Wharton management Professor, Maritine Haas, has found that a mix of “cosmopolitan” and “locals” are key to team success. Having worked on projects in different parts of the world, cosmopolitans have a bird eye view and may be able to see the global implication of teams’ actions. Also, Locals are ware of what consumer in particular country want from a new product.

Haas suggests that companies should make their team size small and ensure to meet everyone face to face on a regular basis. They should not overload the team members and must them autonomy. Haas has found in her research that being autonomous is one of the global team’s success.

Managers should have understanding of supply chain risks

The knowledge of supply chain management and its inherent risk are very important for future managers and the industry as discussed by Prof. N. Viswanadham, Executive Director, GLAMS.

  GLAMS is executing a collaborative research partnership with IBM where in the company is getting Rs 1 crore as a support from IBM, which will be utilized for research projects. The special focus area for the center is the interplay between regular supply chain management and the counterfeit supply chain in view of the increasing incidence of counterfeits.

Once mutually acceptable goal are set, define performance measurable parameters & conduct an objective review of performance along with the employee. Then discuss, counsel and identify training needs, define training mode and mechanism with clear objectives to capture training effectiveness.

  Similarly, Manas Fuloria, Co-founder and executive Vice-president, Nagarro software Pvt Ltd says that company is using “Agile Appraisal and feedback system” for managing employees performance. Also, the company have a process called “Best fit mapping” so as to fit the personnel to their best fit role.
